- How often do I need to use my SmoothSkin device?
To help SmoothSkin work as effectively as possible, you should use the device once a week to ensure all hair follicles are treated. During the first few weeks after your initial treatments, you may still see some hair growing back. Don’t worry—this may be hair that was not treated during its growth phase, when IPL works best. So be sure to keep following your treatment routine!
Within 4 weeks, you should see a reduction in regrowth. Isn’t that great? There may still be some hairs left to treat because treatment works best when hair is in the right growth stage, but don’t worry—from here, things should only improve, so keep going! Once you’ve achieved your desired results, you will still need to continue with maintenance treatments about once every two weeks, just to help manage regrowth.
- How does the skin tone sensor work?
When the skin tone sensor is placed on the treatment area, the blue light emitted by the sensor is reflected back from your skin. The device then detects whether your skin tone is suitable for use.
- How long does the device last?
SmoothSkin has unlimited flashes, so you never have to worry about running out of flashes.
- My SmoothSkin device won’t turn on?
Make sure the device is plugged in. Ensure the skin tone sensor is fully pressed against your skin. Your skin may be too dark for treatment. Please check the skin tone chart at the front of your user guide. If you still can’t get it to work, please contact us.
- My SmoothSkin device has black marks on the front (gold or silver) part—what should I do?
Don’t panic! This is caused by leftover hairs, stubble, or debris on the skin surface and will not affect the operation of the device in any way; it is purely cosmetic.
In the future, make sure that you shave and clean the area you want to treat immediately before treatment. If your device has marks, please wipe the gold or silver front and clean it according to the instructions printed in the user guide leaflet.
If you’re still concerned, please contact us for further advice.
- The red light on the power button is on—what do I need to do?
This indicates that an error has occurred with the device. Stop using the device and contact the support line.
- There is a bubble, dark haze, or clump in the lamp—is this normal?
This is completely normal. The lamp is designed to a high standard and has passed the highest quality requirements. It does not affect the output energy level.
- Does the treatment window contain glass?
No, glass should not be applied to the skin. The glass filter has already been fitted inside the device.
- How do I clean the device?
Wipe the device carefully with a soft, dry cloth and make sure the glass filter is not damaged after each use. The front part of the device (gold or silver) can be removed. Please refer to your user guide for more details.
- I notice a burning smell when using it—is that normal?
A burning smell during use may indicate that the treatment area was not properly prepared. The skin must be completely hair-free (shaving is recommended for best results; if hair is not fully removed, it may damage the front of the device), clean, and dry. If any hairs remain on the skin surface, they may burn during treatment with your SmoothSkin device. If you are concerned, STOP treatment and contact us.
- My SmoothSkin slows down while I’m using it. Should I be worried?
No need to worry. SmoothSkin is equipped with a fairly powerful fan to cool the electrical components, and it may sometimes need to slow down slightly to allow the fan to work effectively.
