With a team of industry experts dedicated to product research, development, and clinical studies at SmoothSkin’s headquarters, we devote 100% of our time and resources to researching, designing, engineering, manufacturing, and even testing advanced IPL technology.
From studying how light, skin, and hair interact at a cellular level to exploring the most effective pre- and post-treatment care methods, we continuously test and learn to help ensure you get the best possible results from your SmoothSkin products.

3. Who are the experts behind the technology?

Back in 1979, a scientist accidentally discovered the foundation of IPL technology – the technology SmoothSkin still uses today – when he accidentally ran a laser beam across his forearm and was surprised to see the hair not grow back. He went on to develop some of the world’s first hair removal lasers, and in 2002 he partnered with three other local entrepreneurs – a scientist, an engineer, and a businessman – to create Cyden, the brains behind the SmoothSkin brand. In fact, two of the founding members still work for Cyden today.

With more than 30 years of experience, SmoothSkin is a leading global IPL hair removal brand. We not only design and manufacture our products in the UK, but also conduct our own research and even carry out clinical trials from our headquarters in Swansea, South Wales.
