SmoothSkin Bare+ Troubleshooting Guide

1. My SMOOTHSKIN BARE+ slows down while I’m using it. Should I be worried?

No need to worry. SmoothSkin Bare is equipped with a fairly powerful fan to cool the electrical components, and sometimes the device may need to slow down slightly so the fan can work effectively.

2. I notice a burning smell when using it. Is that normal?

A burning smell during use may indicate that the treatment area was not prepared properly. The skin should be completely hair-free (before treatment, make sure you shave for best results), fully clean, and dry. If any hair remains on the surface of the skin, it can burn during treatment with your SmoothSkin device. If you are concerned, please STOP treatment and .

3. How should I clean the device?

Wipe the device carefully with a soft, dry cloth and make sure the glass filter is not damaged after each use. The head of the device (the gold or silver part) can be removed. Please refer to your user manual for more details.

4. There is a bubble, dark spot, or clump in the lamp — is that normal?

This is completely normal. The lamp is designed to a high standard and has passed strict quality requirements. It does not affect the output energy level.

5. The red light on the start button turns on — what should I do?

This indicates that the device has experienced an error. Please stop using the device and contact us by email at  or

6. The front part (gold or silver) of my SMOOTHSKIN device has black marks on it. What should I do?

Don’t panic! This is caused by remaining hairs, stubble, or debris on the skin surface and will not affect the operation of the device in any way; it is purely cosmetic.

For future treatments, make sure you shave and clean the area you want to treat immediately before use. If your device has marks, please wipe the gold or silver front part and clean it according to the instructions printed in the user leaflet.

If you still have concerns, please contact us for further advice.

7. I can’t start my SMOOTHSKIN BARE+ device?

Make sure it is plugged in. Make sure the skin tone sensor is pressed fully against the skin. Your skin may be too dark for treatment. Check the skin tone chart in the front of your user manual. If you still can’t get it working, please

8. How long does the device last?

SmoothSkin Bare+ has unlimited flashes, so you never need to worry about the flashes running out.

9. How does the skin tone sensor work?

When the skin tone sensor is placed on the treatment area, blue light emitted from the sensors is reflected back from your skin. The device then detects whether your skin tone is suitable for use.

10. How often should I use the SmoothSkin Bare+ device?

For SmoothSkin Bare to work as effectively as possible, you should use the device once a week to help ensure all hair follicles are treated. During the first few weeks after your initial treatments, you may still see some hair growing. Don’t worry — these may be hairs that were not treated during their growth phase, when IPL is most effective. So make sure you continue with the treatment course!

Within 4 weeks, you should see a reduction in regrowth. Isn’t that great? There will still be some hairs left to treat because treatment works best when hair is in the right growth phase, but don’t worry — from this point on, things should only improve, so keep going! Once you achieve your desired results, you will still need maintenance treatments about once every two weeks to help keep regrowth under control.
